Haere mai!

Welcome to Musselburgh School

Our BOT, teachers and support staff strive to make Musselburgh School a safe, friendly and nurturing environment where our children feel happy and secure while enjoying the best in teaching and learning practices.

The Musselburgh School Board of Trustees Vision is “Learning to Live – Living to Learn”.  The collective vision of all stakeholders for the future is to provide a positive, safe, and rich learning environment where our tamariki will grow emotionally, socially and academically to reach their full potential

Musselburgh School is a Decile 5 contributing school with eight classes.

We have a staff of twenty three comprising of the Principal, eight full time teachers, three part-time teachers, eight teacher aides, and ICT technician, an Administrative Secretary and a part time caretaker. We have a number of volunteers who support our school on a regular basis.

The needs of all students at Musselburgh continue to be met using a diverse range of pedagogies and programmes.  Programmes include the Perceptual Motor Programme (PMP) for junior children, Play is the Way, Talk to Learn, Enviro-Schools, targeted numeracy and literacy groups, specialised arts programmes, the choir, the marimba band, Mandarin and our Ako Reo Programme. These initiatives ensure the needs of all our students are being met.

There is an emphasis upon physical activity within the school and all children are encouraged to participate in sports to encourage the development of healthy life-style choices.  Our outdoor education programme challenges children to push beyond their comfort zone and use and develop their character strengths.

We encourage a strong partnership between whānau and families as we see this as a key to the success of our tamariki.
